The perfect gift idea for brew lovers !

The past 30 years has seen the rise of the modern day ‘single-use’ cup with an estimated 2 trillion of these ending their life in landfill. The average lifespan of a single-use cup for your hot drink fix is only 13 minutes with a very small percentage of those being able to be recycled due to their plastic content. These figures actually shocked me when I read them. Therefore when asked to try and review the ECoffee Cup, a company who are actively trying to turn the tide and prevent the numbers of single use cups I was thrilled to give it a go.

We all love a hot brew on the go, either on the way to work or perhaps to keep you warm on the school run, and I’m sure many of us are guilty of nipping into the local café en-route to get that fix – I know I am. However since using the ecoffee cup I find it easier and cheaper to make my brew at home and take it along with me.

Made from naturally organic bamboo fibre the cup actually feels like a thick cardboard making it much sturdier than a single use cup, with the bonus that at the end of its life it is biodegradable. Bamboo fibre as a material is fast growing and rapidly renewable making it environmentally friendly too. The cup comes with a resealable, non-drip lid and a matching cup holder which is sturdy and is successful in keeping your fingers from being burned – unlike the cardboard one often provided cafes. The whole cup is fully dishwasher safe and with careful use I’m sure will last many, many years.

Ecoffee Cup offer a vast range of colourful designs and patterns with something to suit everyone. The cup I received is part of their William Morris range which I was thrilled about as I studied his influence in the Arts and Crafts movement at A-Level and have always admired his work as an artist. My cup has a stunning and distinctive floral pattern synonymous with Morris and the cup holder actually has the William Morris logo.

With Morris being quoted as saying “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful” it is easy to see how the collaboration with the William Morris Gallery is a perfect fit . The cup is both beautiful and functional in equal measure as well as being environmentally friendly something which Morris himself had a deep commitment and respect for.

I LOVE my cup and have and will continue to use it daily for my on the go brew – I also used it at home too as find it ideal for when the little one is around instead of a normal mug which would be more prone to spillages!

These would make fabulous stocking fillers or even better would be ideal as the centre piece in a handmade drinks hamper.

Cups come in a range of sizes, 8oz, 12oz and 14oz and range in price from £7.95-£11.95 depending on the size and design which I feel is a very reasonable price for a quality re-useable cup that will not only save you money but also help reduce the number of single use cups heading to landfill.

Ecoffee Cup are running a campaign online with the tag #stopthe100billion which users of Instagram and Twitter can use when posting and sharing pictures – why not check out what people are saying and join in by purchasing your very own cup you won’t regret it!

We received a sample cup in return for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are our own.
