Today’s featured Blogger is the amazing Victoria from Lylia Rose whose blog topics include Money Saving, Lifestyle and Parenting to name but a few. Her site is full to the brim with useful tips and advice, there’s something for everyone! I hope you enjoy discovering more about Victoria and her incredible blog.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your blog.
Hello, my name is Victoria and I’m 33 years old. I am married to Ben and we have two children; Bella 6 and Reuben 3. I’m a full time blogger with two blogs of my own and I also write for my husband’s blog. I’ve been blogging at www.lyliarose.com for 5.5 years about money, healthy living and family lifestyle. It covers a lot of topics, but focuses mainly on these three. My biggest passion is healthy living so I set up www.healthyvix.com this year so I could have a niche specific blog and also to try out WordPress as I’ve never used it before and was curious!
How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been blogging since April 2013, so 5.5 years which is crazy! It’s gone very quickly.
What or who inspired you to create your blog?
I sold fashion accessories online and needed a way to get more people to my website. I read blogging was a good idea so I originally started blogging about things to do with my business, but quickly rediscovered my love for writing and decided I wanted to blog about lifestyle too. It grew from there and I am now lucky enough to blog full time.
What’s your favourite thing about running your blog?
Being able to work for myself, without a doubt. I’m very self-motivated and love the creative freedom to do what I want when I want. I also love writing. I’m still just as passionate about writing a blog post as I was 5.5 years ago and I can’t imagine ever getting bored of it.
How do you stay motivated?
Luckily I’m very self-motivated, so it helps! I’m a determined person and hard-working. I’m quite happy to regularly stay in working late than go out socialising, so running a blog that is also now my business is suited to me as I’m prepared to put in the hard work it requires and sacrifice other parts of my life. Wanting to succeed and make a full time income each month is also a great motivator!
What’s been the most challenging part of your blogging journey to date?
Probably growing my social channels. That’s taken so much effort and I wouldn’t say I enjoy that part as much. If only blogging was only about the writing! But unfortunately there’s a lot more to it like admin work and marketing that’s not so enjoyable all the time.
Tell us about your favourite blog post (feel free to add a link!)
One of my favourites is the 3 things having children has taught me to appreciate as without my children I’d never have been inspired to make my own money or start my own business. They definitely gave me the confidence to do so. If I’d not have had them I expect I’d still be in my old job and miserable!
Describe your blog in four words
Mama, Mission, Healthier, Wealthier
(My tagline is that I’m a Mama on a Mission to be Healthier and Wealthier!)
What are your future hopes and dreams for your blog?
I hope for Lylia Rose to continue as it is – making me a full time income each month, staying as a lifestyle blog with a variety of topics without me feeling the pressure to niche down. I hope to raise the domain authority on Healthy Vix and start making a good income from there too so I have a backup plan if anything happens to my main blog!
