Review: Popcorn Shed Gourmet Snacks

Weekend’s at the Fraser residence usually mean a family movie evening, as it’s the one time of the week when no one has to be up early for work or school. Like most we are partial to a snack or two to munch whilst enjoying the film and our favourite by far is a trusty bowl of popcorn  – a film minus popcorn is like bread without butter! Last weekend we were all super excited to sit down to watch newly released Bohemian Rhapsody* on DVD after loving it at the cinema and we were thrilled to have been sent a huge package of snacks from Popcorn Shed to try which were just perfect for our evening in!

Launched back in 2016 by cousin’s Sam and Laura, Popcorn Shed is the UK’s first premium popcorn brand. This family owned British business began it’s journey in the family garden shed as the pair dedicated their time to perfecting the art of popcorn making, using only the highest quality ingredients. Despite rapidly outgrowing their shed the company name and uniquely designed packaging still pay homage to where their story started.

Offering a range of  seven handcrafted gourmet popcorn flavours, created using natural high quality ingredients, there’s something to please every palette. Their whole range is also suitable for vegetarians and gluten free too. Products are available in a variety of sizes from small snack packs to large jars which would make a fabulous unique gift idea.

We were extremely lucky to receive a whole variety of flavours to try and it didn’t take long for the family to devour the lot! It’s immediately evident that a lot of thought, time and consideration has been put into every aspect of this product from the cute shed shaped packaging that suits their branding perfectly, to the the quality and texture of the popcorn. It’s a far superior product to your usual supermarket bought bags and the unique flavours offer something completely different to the usual sweet, salted or caramel popcorn we tend to eat.

As a family who usually veer towards the sweet variety of everything, we were unsure about trying the savoury cheese flavour, but we were pleasantly surprised. Also the Sweet Cheesus variety which combines cheese and caramel seemed initially to be a step too far, but the flavour combination works surprisingly well together! Having said that it was the sweet flavours that really stood out for us. The Salted Caramel and Pecan Pie were by far the winners of our taste-testing experiment, with an argument ensuing as to who would get the last remaining pieces in the pack!

The taste and chunky texture of the popcorn was amazing and completely different to any we have tasted before, giving it a really luxurious, posh feel. The flavours were absolutely perfect, with every piece tasting delicious in contrast to those odd few pieces you usually get in a bag that have remained plain.

I personally love the snack pack sizes as they would be ideal to stop me from over indulging! At under 130 calories a pack they are also ideal for a snack on the go or to pop inside your lunchbox for work. The large shed boxes and jars are made for sharing and thanks to their unique, luxury packaging they would be ideal to gift – they would look gorgeous inside a movie hamper – or would be perfect for a special movie night-in.

We adored trying out all the different varieties of popcorn and would definitely purchase them in the future for one of our movie night’s, although I will have to make sure everyone gets a box each to avoid arguments!

Popcorn Shed products are available to purchase from their website (receive 10% off your first order when you sign up), Amazon* , Not On The High Street plus a variety of UK and International stockists.
