Today’s blogger in the spotlight is Gemma from Yorkshire Mum Of 4 – hats off to her my three are handful enough as it is! Gemma’s blog is stuffed to the brim with a variety of lifestyle and family posts which I personally really enjoy. There is something for everyone and all her content is so accessible and relatable it’s easy to lose an hour reading her site! I hope you enjoy reading her interview and finding out all about her fabulous blog.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your blog
I am Gemma. I started my lifestyle and parenting blog in 2018 as a creative outlet and to try something new. I tried to write a book but I lost interest a few times at 400 words so never quite got to finish it then I discovered blogging. The blog is all about my experience as a business student, business owner and also parent. It covers our lifestyle, travels, parent reviews and anything else we come across as a family.
How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging about 6 months currently so am still new and learning lots.
What or who inspired you to create your blog?
Nothing really inspired me to create a blog, I just came across the idea one day, once I joined the social medias to promote my blog I came across a huge community of bloggers and they now inspire me to create content daily for my blog. I enjoy scheduling posts, guest posting, posting my ideas and getting feedback on our travels and reviews and it inspires me to keep going.
What’s your favourite thing about running your blog?
My favourite thing is connecting with other people, feeling part of a community of people who enjoy just writing and getting out there, meeting others, getting inspired especially by travelling with family posts.
How do you stay motivated?
I stay motivated because I am enjoying what I am doing, I still get excited when someone follows me on twitter or subscribes to my blog. I love to read comments and see what other people are posting and comments on their stuff because the community is so engaging and all relevant. I love all the travel, parent and lifestyle blogs.
What’s been the most challenging part of your blogging journey to date?
The most challenging at the moment is reaching out and asking about opportunities to collaborate with brands. One of the challenging parts was turning down paid opportunities that weren’t relevant but to be honest if my passion is not in it I think its a lot harder to write about and I don’t want to sell out, I need to wait for the right opportunities for me and the family so I only write about, review and link to products or services I or the family really love and enjoy.
Tell us about your favourite blog post
My favourite blog post is about how important it is to read and sing nursery rhymes with toddlers. I am so passionate about education and learning and I love reading books and singing nursery rhymes with my toddler and even just talking to him because he gets so much out of it. The words he knows and can say just from helping him with these little everyday things is amazing.
Describe your blog in four words
Scattered, Real, Honest, Family
What are your future hopes and dreams for your blog?
Keep on writing, exploring my creative side with the writing, create more debating style posts, build up the different areas and prove you don’t need a specific niche to have a successful blog – If I want to write about parenting, travel, business and money then I can write about all those because I am passionate about them. I hope also to get to around 10k in followers but I know that is a huge way off yet and I will need to learn more about enticing people to sign up.
