Welcome back to another instalment of the ever-popular series Meet The Blogger. Designed to offer a platform for bloggers everywhere to gain some extra exposure whilst offering readers a chance to find some new blogs to read, the series has proven a huge success since it’s launch at the start of the year. Today I have another fabulous Blogger to introduce you to, so grab a cuppa, sit back and find out all about Davis from Everything Starts With Tea! Enjoy!
Tell us a bit about yourself and your blog
Hey, I’m Davis from Everything Starts With Tea. I’m a single parent to one beautiful little lady, I’m animal mad and own pretty much a small zoo consisting of a dog, two rabbits, two hamsters and a mouse! Also a Wizarding World obsessed Hufflepuff, aspiring metamorphmagus (I get bored of the same hair colour), anything Harry Potter excites me to no end. I run on a lack of sleep and an abundance of cold tea, complete with milk and two sugars.
My corner of the internet is all about lifestyle, parenting, mental health, self improvement and blogging, I like to think that it’s a reflection of me, as those are all topics of which I feel passionate about. There’s sure to be book reviews in the future, too, as I’m never without a good read on the go.
How long have you been blogging?
I ran my first blog from October 2015 – April 2018 then took a break between then and January, when I launched my current blog. So in total I’m heading towards the three year mark!
What or who inspired you to create your blog?
Going back years ago now, I was rather hooked on YouTube. I loved watching lifestyle, make-up and haul videos. I wanted to do something like it myself but was always too awkward behind the camera just being me (I have an acting qualification and I’m fine behind the camera then)! It’s then when I discovered the world of blogging, reading other people’s and becoming hooked. I’ve always been passionate about writing and I loved the blogs I was reading, so I eventually bit the bullet and got involved. My only wish is that I’d done it sooner!
What’s your favourite thing about running your blog?
Connecting with other bloggers and being a part of an amazing community. Writing comes as a very close second, but I’ve made so many amazing friends through blogging, some I consider to be my best friends. It’s the cherry on top of an incredibly delicious cake!
How do you stay motivated?
Now that I’m hoping to start making some money from blogging, my biggest motivator is definitely my daughter. I want to create a beautiful future for us where I can stay home and bring her up myself, where we can go on day trips to lovely places and where I’m able to treat her from time to time.
What’s been the most challenging part of your blogging journey to date?
Last year my Nanna’s health deteriorated and I was going through some other difficulties at the time. These difficulties and the stress that amounted saw me hitting a brick wall when it came to my blog. I had no motivation or inspiration and completely fell out of love with blogging because of it. I chose to close my blog at that time as the domain and hosting needed renewing. It was the best choice though, and starting fresh with my current blog has been the best thing I could have done for my blogging ‘career’.
Tell us about your favourite blog post
Having gone through lots of difficulties during the pregnancy with my daughter, I feel quite protective of other Mommy’s-to-be. I was asked for advice from a lady who’s pregnant to an abusive on-off partner, she wanted to get him out of her life for good for the sake of her unborn child but was incredibly worried about going it alone, especially when it came to the money side of things.
Due to this I then decided to write a post with some of the points to think about during pregnancy that would hopefully help Mom’s in the future. It’s not only limited to single Mom’s, as some of the points can definitely be considered, and be a help, to single women or those in relationships. The post in question can be found here
Describe your blog in four words
Helpful, informative, positive and fun. Or at least I hope it is!
What are your future hopes and dreams for your blog?
As I said before, I’m hoping that I can make a career out of blogging.. My dream is to not have to put my daughter into childcare, that I can stay home with her and bring her up myself. I love the idea of working for myself and so I’d love to do that with my blog, making enough money to support both me and my daughter. How does that saying go… If you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life? Sounds good to me!
