Welcome back to another instalment of my weekly series Meet The Blogger. So far this year I have featured a whole host of amazing blogs and the wonderful creators behind the scenes and today is no different! Check out today’s interview to find out all about the fabulous Katie who writes the blog I Go By Katie. Enjoy!
Tell us a bit about yourself and your blog
I am a 19-year-old Cambridge blogger who writes about lifestyle, beauty, fashion, food and more. My blog is a place where I wish for people to be able to come and forget about all of their troubles while reading my posts.
How long have you been blogging?
I started blogging in March 2019 so I have a lot to learn from others while also feel I have a lot to teach others. I would love to connect with more people and grow my blogging knowledge so any tips and tricks that people can advise me on are all very appreciated!
What or who inspired you to create your blog?
My blog was inspired by a few things. One of these is my work colleague – I had my blog up and running 6 months before I had even published anything on it and then one day she gave me the extra push that I needed to get myself started.
The other thing that inspired my blog was myself. I wanted to be able to open up to myself, to share my experiences and to get advice on topics that I needed it on. Joining the blogging community is one of the best things that I have done because I have grown my confidence, I have grown my knowledge and best of all I have grown my friendship group.
What’s your favourite thing about running your blog?
My favourite thing about running my blog is having no fear. I used to be scared to wear certain clothes, or scared to post that picture because it was too ‘extra’ or scared for everyone to judge me. But since blogging I don’t care anymore, I love the thrill of knowing that people are enjoying what I write and those who still take the mick out of me…at least I’m still impacting their life.
How do you stay motivated?
My partner is a huge part of me staying motivated. He has been by my side since wanting to start my blog, setting it up and writing my first post. When I hit 100 followers on twitter he was there saying how proud he was of me even though that’s nothing to some bloggers. He motivates me to write posts weekly, telling me that he will sit next to me and watch em write or he will proofread my posts for me. He will be the first person to congratulate me on new posts, the first like, first comment. He is my rock (cheesy) when it comes to my staying motivated.
What’s been the most challenging part of your blogging journey to date?
The most challenging part of my journey I’m finding is getting my blog noticed, especially on Instagram. So if anyone has any tips in this area then please let me know because it is really becoming a struggle for me.
Tell us about your favourite blog post
I don’t really have a favourite blog post, I feel that every post has a different feel to it and each of them are my favourite in different ways. The post that I enjoyed writing the most was my Norway 2018 and this was because I wrote it for a fellow blogger who wanted to know about Norway which was so surreal to me because someone else actually asked for and wanted to see my content and then was really happy about reading it which made me feel really good inside.
Describe your blog in four words
There are so many ways that I can write about my blog in four words, ‘I go by Katie’, ‘Lifestyle, food, travel and beauty’,’blog from your mind’, ‘simple, friendly, crazy blogger’.
What are your future hopes and dreams for your blog?
I’m still getting to this part but for now, my hopes and dreams are just to enjoy myself. I want to make sure that if it gets too much I don’t let it and I never want to lose the enjoyment of it because that’s when what I’m writing about isn’t truly me.

I’d like to say a massive thank you to Katie for taking part. Check out next week’s post as I welcome another fabulous blogger.
Wonderful to hear how being a blogger has given Katie confidence in herself. I don’t use Instagram so can’t offer words of advice there but generally the more yiu interact with other bloggers the more your follower list will grow. Set yourself a target to leave comments on about 20 blogs a day – yes that takes time but it’s worth it.
