Meet The Blogger: Susanne From Floral Cars

I’m absolutely thrilled to be featuring today’s blogger as part of my Meet The Blogger Series as Floral Cars is one of my favourite blogs. Not only that the wonderful Susuanne is part of the Fraser’s Fun House blogger squad and is an all round fabulous lady! So without further ado here is my interview with Susanne, I hope you enjoy discovering more about her blog!

Tell us a bit about yourself and your blog

Introductions are always the hardest, so let’s start simple. Hello, I am Susanne – a blogger, road tripper, and motorsport enthusiast. I am in my mid-twenties and live in Austria.

I run where I indulge in my love for road tripping and travel in general. Furthermore, I love reading so it is a dedicated space to books and book review.

How long have you been blogging?

I started my blog around 2015. Back then it had just been a fun way to talk about a topic once a week. Since 2017 I run it as it what it is now: a structured organized blog with the focus on books and travel. I really enjoy that change, so no regrets.

What or who inspired you to create your blog?

It was a newspaper column that I enjoyed reading, and I was fascinated that he could tell stories in a compelling and funny way – mostly travel reports, or opinions. So I decided that if someone got paid for it, nobody would really mind if I started a blog on the internet.

What’s your favourite thing about running your blog?

I must admit that it is probably the writing. I like playing with words and wondering how I can make this sentence flow even smoother. You can add puns, wordplays, sarcasm … Not only in travel reports but also in reviews.

In the end, I really enjoy producing a compelling text that is more than a pro and con list of an event or book.

How do you stay motivated?

Caffeine helps and the daunting fear of uselessness when I don’t tick a box on my to-do list.

In all honesty, I simply enjoy doing this but I will admit that a good balance is what really matters. You can’t blog 24/7 without burning out. I hardly ever “need to stay motivated” because I rarely get to the point when blogging becomes a bother. So to answer the question in a twisted way: taking a break helps me to stay motivated.

What’s been the most challenging part of your blogging journey to date?

I often don’t realise that my blog might have any impact at all. I write a good review and the author says thanks. Then half a year later I learn that said author still thinks about those nice words. It is just something I have not realized at all. People read my words – still doubtful though – and then have an emotional reaction – sounds fake.

That’s one side of the coin, the other is that I often wonder if people even want to read about that trip but often they do and enjoy it. So yeah, why worry … but easier said than done.

Tell us about your favourite blog post

That’s a tough one.

For recent posts, it’s probably the author interview I did with R.R. Campbell ( ) I had never done an interview prior and was quite nervous. Furthermore, I tried it in a newspaper style interview format. So it was new on all fronts for me, and it was a fair amount of work to write it. I am still very pleased with the result because it looks good and professional.

I am also in love with my photo story from last year’s Glockner trip. It’s a stunning and one of my favourite places:  Plus, I love photography. So guess who’s going to return to the Glockner this year … again.

Describe your blog in four words

Books, road trips, fun!

What are your future hopes and dreams for your blog?

I am always realistic with this, so I am just hoping for a few more readers and comments. More books and travels to cover. Also, in case Porsche reads this, would you consider giving me a car for a road trip? That would be nice. Thank you.
