Happy New Year to you all and Happy Birthday to the Meet The Blogger Series that has been running a whole year! If this is the first of the series you have read then please do have a look at my previous posts as I have had the pleasure of chatting to such amazing and diverse bloggers over the last year.
Anyway on to today’s feature and I’m sharing my interview with book blogger Becky, so keep reading and find out all about her and her fabulous website. Enjoy!
Tell us a bit about yourself and your blog
Hi! I’m Becky, a very nearly 30 year old bookworm! I have been reading for as long as I can remember, but it’s only over the past year that I have worked up the nerve to become a blogger. My love for books has always been a bit of a running joke in my family, and they have been super supportive of it. I’ve gone from loving being read too by my Nan and Dad, to devouring books by the likes of Roald Dahl and Jaqueline Wilson, to eventually starting my love for Harry Potter, and as they say. ‘It was all downhill from there.’ Over the past couple of years I started getting more and more into Book Twitter, and read soooo many amazing blog posts and reviews, I thought to myself “I can do that.” Maybe not as well as some of the posts I had read, but I was hopeful that someone out there would be interested in what I had to say. I use my blog to shout about books that I have loved, and to hopefully give you some insights into myself through bookish Tag posts etc.
How long have you been blogging?
I only started in June 2018 which seems crazy to me! I have made so many bookish friends and find the community so helpful and supportive.
What or who inspired you to create your blog?
Like I said before, it was reading all the amazing blog posts I found via Twitter. A little part of me was determined that I could do that too, even if I didn’t think my posts would be anywhere near as interesting, and so I went and googled the best sites to use for a blog and low and behold Becky’s Book Blog was founded.
What’s your favourite thing about running your blog?
Interacting with all my lovely followers. I love getting comments on my posts, especially ones where someone say’s my review has convinced them to pick up a book. Everyone is so lovely and supportive and I honestly couldn’t do it without them.
How do you stay motivated?
If I’m being honest blogging is my favourite part of the day/week so it’s very rare I need motivation. There have been one or two slumps in my first year or so, but all it took was a comment or a tag in a post and I found myself getting right back into it.
What’s been the most challenging part of your blogging journey to date?
Ooh. I think writing my first review was challenging. Working out what to include without giving away spoilers, but also making sure I included things readers would want to know about. I look back now over my first few reviews, and even though it was only just over a year ago, I still cringe at how simplistic the language and writing style is.
Tell us about your favourite blog post
I think I have two. My favourite review which was for The Ten Thousand Doors of January. I loved that book and found my review just flowed out of me.
And the other is a post I did focused on my favourite genre. It was a Top Ten Tuesday post and I talked about why Fantasy was my favourite genre.
Describe your blog in four words
Playful, Amusing, Interesting and Friendly
What are your future hopes and dreams for your blog?
I just hope that it continues to grow, that people keep coming back and keep enjoying the content that I write. I didn’t come into this for the awards (not that one wouldn’t be nice.) I just wanted a space for me to write down my thoughts, and for like minded people to read them, and hopefully find them interesting and insightful. I just hope that I will be able to keep this up for as long as possible.
