Welcome back to another instalment of Meet The Blogger and today I’m chatting with Ben who is a recent addition to the blogging community. If you are a blogger yourself you’ll know just how daunting the first few months are so I hope you’ll give his site some love. Either way be sure to check out his interview and click the links below for his website and social media.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your blog
My name is Ben, I am 33 from Wolverhampton, England. I live here with my partner Tina and our French Bulldog Jax. I have only recently started my blog, it is all about my journey of building a blog as well as articles on lifestyle and minimalism. I know a lot of people will say that I need to narrow down my niche, but I am still trying to figure this out.
My blog is – www.benfulbrook.net
How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging on and off for over 10 years, mainly on free blogs like blogger and Tumblr. But with everything going on in the world, I thought it was time (and I now have plenty of it) to start my own self hosted blog and really put the time in to try and make it a success
What or who inspired you to create your blog?
I have always been an avid reader, from a child, I would read multiple books a week and then when we got a home pc and an internet connection (oh the days of dial up) I was hooked on reading things online.
Now I want to be the one creating the content, creating things to help people learn and inspire people. I am definitely not one for being in front of a camera so I came back to blogging and still love it.
What’s your favourite thing about running your blog?
My favourite part of running the blog, is seeing something come from nothing, until recently the site didn’t exist, there was no content (there isn’t a massive amount now, but I am working on it).
I get to see the results of the work that I put in, for better or for worse, it’s also great to see peoples reactions and interact with people based on the content I have written and shared.
How do you stay motivated?
For me the motivation is not an issue, I know where I want to be and I have a clear idea of how to get there, I am a very target driven person and once I focus on something I tend to go all in to get where I want to be.
I know that as I have a new blog that I have a bit of a novelty factor for writing and creating at the moment and that this might change, but I know I will keep going.
What’s been the most challenging part of your blogging journey to date?
The most challenging part for me really has been the technical side of setting up a blog.
Getting to grips with WordPress has been a steep learning curve, thankfully Google and YouTube has been massive helps when I get stuck and need a pointer on how to do things.
This aside I think that my writing skills had become a little rusty (thank you Grammarly for saving me!).
But these are both skills that I will continue to work on to improve the blog and hopefully this will be reflected in my future posts.
Tell us about your favourite blog post (feel free to add a link!)
So far my favourite blog post has to be my first one all about starting my blog
It’s an introduction to me and the blog, an idea of what I want to achieve and it includes a picture of our French Bulldog, Jax. So I like that one.
It’s also the first post I created, so I guess that will hold a bit of sentimental value in the future as it’s the starting point of something amazing happening.
Describe your blog in four words
New, Growing, Lifestyle, Informative
What are your future hopes and dreams for your blog?
My future hopes and dreams are for the blog to continue to grow and build an engaged and happy audience. I would love to be able to do it full time and really get into it, without having to balance it around another full time job.
