I’m Alex, mum to a 2-year-old and legal guardian to my 15-year-old niece.
My blog onecluelessmum.co.uk is a lifestyle and parenting blog. I like to cover the highs and lows of motherhood but also cover other topic like fertility and IVF.
How long have you been blogging?
I started blogging in May 2019 using Blogger but moved to WordPress in June.
What or who inspired you to create your blog?
Wanting to become a mum is what inspired me to start blogging. For some unknown reason we were unable to conceive naturally and had to have fertility treatment. Throughout the whole process I relied on the experiences of others – told through their blogs – to keep me going. It brought a lot of comfort to know I wasn’t alone.
After a while I began thinking about sharing my own experiences. If mine could bring someone else comfort in a time of need then I’ll have achieved what I set out to do.
What’s your favourite thing about running your blog?
It’s a bit like a form of therapy for me. If i write about what might be playing on my mind, it makes me feel better about it.
How do you stay motivated?
I try to give myself deadlines. Joining a weekly Linky is a good motivator. If I want to join a Linky I like to have a new post to link up with.
You get to read a lot of great blog posts from others too which is also a good motivator.
What’s been the most challenging part of your blogging journey to date?
Getting my head around WordPress and the Blogging best practices. But I think I’m finally getting there – it’s only taken 9 months.
Tell us about your favourite blog post
My favourite post is probably “Don’t Judge my Waifs & Strays”. It highlights the importance of not judging a book by its cover. I have so many good people in my life that wouldn’t necessarily be accepted by society because they don’t look the part.
Describe your blog in four words
Personal, honest (sometimes too honest), amusing, friendly.
What are your future hopes and dreams for your blog?
It would be nice to make a little money from it at some point but it’s more of a hobby for me at the moment.
