Welcome back to another edition of my weekly blog series Meet The Blogger ! I designed this feature to not only help promote bloggers, but also to help my readers find some new exciting content creators. I hope you have managed to find some wonderful new blogs to follow over the last 18 months, or if you are new here make sure you check out some of the amazing folks that have been in the spotlight so far!
Anyway on to today’s post and I’m chatting to Em who writes over at Love Em. Be sure to check out her interview then head over to her blog and social media too.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your blog
Hi, I’m Em, and I am a 17-year-old blogger from Cambridge, UK. I have just finished sixth form, so am using my time before I start my apprenticeship to blog! My blog is called “Love Em” and it talks about a whole mix of topics including blogging, business and lifestyle. I like to support small businesses on my blog, as I think it is important to showcase the amazing stories that some people have. There are so many businesses out there that you haven’t even heard of! I also talk a lot about cruelty-free, sustainability and eco-friendly products. There is something for everyone on my blog!
How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging on and off for about 4 years. I have had 3 blogs in total; one was a food blog and the other a fitness one! I started Love Em at the beginning of lockdown (April), so it has only been going for a few months!
What or who inspired you to create your blog?
I have always loved blogging. I wanted to start my blog to help small business in a time of economic crisis because these people have families and bills too. I also wanted a safe space to talk about anything I wanted. I talk about lots of things on my blog, mainly to help others. The people who inspired me to start was my parents. They are always proud of what I do and thought it would be a great thing to start while I was furloughed!
What’s your favourite thing about running your blog?
I really love putting together a blog post! I like making Canva infographics and pins to put in a blog post as I have always been a creative person. The other thing I love about running my blog is the people. I think there are so many lovely businesses and bloggers out there, I wish I could speak to them all! I have met some wonderful bloggers who’ve helped me out and met some fab business owners who I wish I could give the world to. People are amazing things, I wish I could talk to them all!
How do you stay motivated?
The thing that keeps me motivated is knowing I am helping out someone, whether it be generating extra sales for a business, helping someone find a new product, or giving blogger tips for their own blog! It makes me feel good inside knowing my knowledge has helped someone out. It is really motivating to get an email, DM or comment saying thank you!
What’s been the most challenging part of your blogging journey to date?
The most challenging part for me would be procrastination. As I don’t have any work commitments due to lockdown, blogging is one of the only things I do. It means that some days, I won’t want to write anything as I am not feeling it. This can be demotivating to see an unchecked to-do list. Taking a break from writing is something I need to do more, otherwise, I may not enjoy it in the future!
Tell us about your favourite blog post
That’s a tricky one! I love a lot of the blog posts I write, but if I have to choose a favourite, it would either be my post on sustainable fashion or my post on making a media kit (which has a really cute printable checklist for you!). I love the fashion one because it sheds light on a really importanttopic; sustainability. It also is an interview with an amazing small business, so by reading it, you’d be supporting them! I also like the media kit post, because I worked really hard on my checklists and infographics. I thought it was a really helpful post!
Describe your blog in four words
Bubbly, knowledgable, eye-opening, pink!
What are your future hopes and dreams for your blog?
I would love to continue to help out others. It would be amazing to monetize my blog too. I have blogger advertising on my blog, which helps me run my blog and support small businesses where I can. If you’d like to help myout, my dream would be to full book a month of advertising, so I can continue to help others!
