Meet The Blogger: Caroline From Breaks.Com

Welcome back and happy Thursday everyone! It’s that time of the week again where I get the pleasure of introducing you to yet another amazing blogger. This week I’m chatting to Caroline from Breaks.Com to find out more about what inspired her to create her blog as well as a little more about the person behind the screen. I hope you enjoy her interview and be sure to check out her links below.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your blog

Hi! I’m Caroline, the person behind travel & lifestyle blog Breaks.com. My favourite thing is to go on roadtrips with my rescue dog Monty. You will find a lot of UK based, dog-friendly content on my blog!

How long have you been blogging?

I have been blogging on Breaks.com full time now for a year, but I have always had blogs and journals. When I moved to London 7 years ago I started my first WordPress blog for my family to read up on my adventures. It’s not live anymore but I have always loved to write!

What or who inspired you to create your blog?

What inspired me to start a travel blog is the fact that travel is so much more accessible nowadays. The internet and social media make it so easy to get to know places through someone else which really inspires my wanderlust. I love writing about UK based getaways as I think you don’t always have to fly across the world to see beautiful things. Fellow bloggers exploring amazing places inspire me on a daily basis!

What’s your favourite thing about running your blog?

Doing something you love as your job is the best thing ever! I am so lucky to be able to do this and I think my favourite thing is finding inspiration for my blog in daily things. If I go to a new place for a coffee this inspires me to do a blog post about the café or a particular shop will give me an idea for a topic. Anywhere I travel I will at least find a couple of post ideas and I am constantly taking notes or pictures!

How do you stay motivated?

For me it really helps to create a daily schedule. I usually sit down for a morning coffee with my boyfriend (who helps me with my blog behind the scenes a lot) and we go through the things we want to do on that day. I don’t always end up completing all my tasks but ticking off things on your to-do list gives a feeling of accomplishment!

What’s been the most challenging part of your blogging journey to date?

I think it can be really challenging to get the confidence you need as a blogger to sell yourself. I personally find it tough sometimes sticking to my guns and saying ‘this is the value I can bring to your brand’. Other bloggers that feel the same: you are worth it! Don’t sell yourself short.

Tell us about your favourite blog post (feel free to add a link!)

Recently I’ve been writing a lot about Bedford, my ‘new’ home-town where we moved to earlier this year. It’s great fun to write about cafés, restaurants and things in the area you enjoy yourself. It motivates and incentivizes me to explore new places in my own city and see the beauty of them! You can find these posts here: https://breaks.com/category/bedford/

Describe your blog in four words

 “Dog-friendly and local travel”

What are your future hopes and dreams for your blog?

I’d love the blog to include more of local guides about Bedfordshire, live events, restaurant reviews etc. Everywhere I go I come up with a post idea for the blog which is fun! I also absolutely love home interior so a bigger presence of home/lifestyle on the blog would be my dream.
