Book Review: Lotta Love Bug By Melody Agard

Sharing books is one of life’s simple pleasures!  I also enjoy sharing blogs about books I have discovered to help give you some inspiration for new titles to share with the little people in your life. Recently children’s Author Melody Agard sent me her book, Lotta Love Bug to share with Leo and today I’d like to share a mini review for you.

Review

As the title suggests the book tell the story of Lotta Love Bug, a winged creature that is everywhere you go. The story depicts lots of the places Lotta likes to be and how she enjoys coming along on family trips as well as being nearby when you are ill. In fact, she likes to stay near in good times and bad and share the love she has inside her to give.

This is such a sweet, magical story of friendship and how great it is to have someone you can rely on and call your friend. Lotta Love Bug is a supportive character that is always there regardless of how your child is feeling, happy or sad they can call on her to support and love them. It really sparked Leo’s imagination and we talked about how Lotta could be around even when he can’t see her as she would always be there helping him out.

The story is accompanied by colourful, beautifully created illustrations which really help bring the story to life. The image of Lotta was created by Melody’s brother Josh Agard and perfectly encompasses what Lotta represents with her heart being the focus and the first thing you notice.

The book is a large paperback and the story is written in large clear font which would be ideal for early readers. The language used isn’t complicated and young readers shouldn’t need too much assistance to read independently. Of course, this book is also perfect for sharing with children of any age, which is definitely my favourite thing to do – I’ve got to make the most of it before Leo gets ‘too big’ to snuggle up on my lap for story time!

We both really enjoyed reading this story and it’s made a fabulous addition to out (bulging) bookshelf! Massive thanks to Melody for allowing us to read and review her wonderful book!
