Summer is here…….well when the sun decides to peek from behind the clouds, which means spending time outdoors, one of my favourite things to do. Day’s out with the family are on the horizon and I love nothing more than packing a bag full of essentials, jumping in the car and seeing where the breeze takes us. This Summer though I am ditching my old faithful totes in favour of The Selfie Bag – the tote that offers something a little bit extra!
A while ago the lovely folks over at Cotton Bag Co reached out and asked if I wanted to try out their Selfie Bag, a concept I’d never heard of before. Intrigued, I of course agreed to road test the bag, see what it has to offer and give my full and honest thought’s for you, my readers.
What is The Selfie Bag?
The Selfie Bag is specifically designed to help you create the perfect images and content on the move. The large custom designed canvas bag is filled with goodies that have been hand selected by the selfie loving creators at the Cotton Bag Co with the aim of helping you achieve the best possible on the go images. The bag retails at £27.95 including VAT & postage. Bags are despatched same day so delivery is speedy!
What’s inside the bag?
- A Bluetooth selfie stick with integrated tripod- Ideal to help get the right angle for your photo’s or content and is easily connected to your phone via a downloadable app
- A pop up reflector – this round reflector is ideal to help achieve the perfect lighting for your photos
- A ring light – another great way to ensure the lighting is just right for those family photos. The ring light attaches easily to your phone and has three brightness settings
- A detachable zipped pouch – this pouch is the perfect size for storing and transporting the pop up reflector or great for loose change, jewellery or other small items you want to keep safe
- The bag also has two interior pockets ideal for storing your selfie stick, phone on any other smaller items
Our thoughts
The quality of the canvas bag is wonderful, a really thick sturdy material that is obviously designed to stand the test of time. The handles are really well stitched too which is always something I take note of when purchasing bags of any kind as quite often they will come apart with only the lightest of items inside. I really like too that the bag is fully zipped meaning the contents are secure and will stay dry during those light Summer showers that the UK is well known for!
I love the arty, graffiti style print of the bag, it’s attention grabbing in the best possible way. My favourite part of the bag though has to be the zipped pouch which is just so handy, not only for storing the reflector that comes with the bag, but for ensuring those small items aren’t doomed to get lost in the depths of this sizeable bag. The bag has plenty of room for not only your selfie equipment, but also everything you’d need for a day out – or loads of books if you are a book nerd like me!
The selfie kit is a great addition to what is in my opinion already a fantastic bag. The Bluetooth selfie stick is easy to set up and the app is easy to download and user friendly. The extension is a decent length and the inclusion of an integrated stand means it’s great for taking hands free shots. The selfie stick is compatible with both Android and iOS. My only criticism is that the top of the stick doesn’t rotate sideways to allow for landscape pictures so you end up having to hold it at a strange angle to get a good shot.
I really like the inclusion of a pop up reflector and the Selfie Bag branded ring light is a lovely touch. The ring light has three different brightness settings and is easily attached to your phone to make sure your only taking selfies in the best possible light! The pop up reflector is simple to fold down making it small and easy to transport.
Initially I did think the price tag of almost £28 was a little steep, however the quality of the bag itself would command almost £20 in my opinion and if you bought the other items individually you’d be looking at much more than £28. I think this bag is ideal for for capturing memories on holiday and day’s out and fantastic for any selfie lovers out there. It would also make the perfect gift for a content creator who wants to have all their equipment to hand whilst on the go or why not treat yourself if you are being the journey into becoming a creator? I’m really looking forward to taking my Selfie Bag out and about this Summer to capture some snapshots of our family time.
