There’s something rather magical about Christmas books, isn’t there? From festive adventures filled with Christmas magic to cosy bedtime stories shared on chilly winter evenings, reading together is one of those simple pleasures that helps make the festive season so special.
Christmas books also make lovely little gifts for children. Whether you’re looking for something to pop under the tree, a stocking filler for a little one or a new story to enjoy together in the run-up to Christmas, there are plenty of festive reads to choose from.
I’ve been sent four Christmas picture and board books by the wonderful folks over at Little Tiger to take a look at, so if you’re looking for some festive reading inspiration for the little ones in your life, here are four books worth adding to your Christmas reading list.
Hank Goes Ho Ho Honk by Maudie Powell-Tuck & Duncan Beedie*
This delightful story follows an impatient goose named Hank who simply loves Christmas! Unable to wait until Christmas Hank finds himself flying off to Santa’s workshop and chaos ensues as he tries to ‘help’.

This short story is filled with bright, engaging and beautifully illustrated pictures that will have you and your little one chuckling at Hank’s exploits. I can also completely relate to Hank’s impatience for Christmas to arrive- how many sleeps left??
Santa goes Ho Ho Ho by Becky Davies*
We all know parents love books that make noises, right? Well even the adults aren’t keen we all know that kids can’t get enough of pressing the buttons repeatedly! Santa goes Ho Ho Ho is a short board book that introduces the reader to five fun Christmas characters, each with their own unique sound.

Little ones will meet Santa, a reindeer, a snowman, an elf and a polar bear within this book’s colourful and engaging pages, whilst pressing the noise buttons along the way! And the best part? If you need a break from the sounds there is a handy switch at the back!
The Street Where Santa Lives by Harriet Howe*
Everyone is too busy to notice ‘Santa’ has moved onto the street……everyone except one little girl! But her family all think he is just a normal old man despite his talent for fixing things. His favourite time of year is Spring, his favourite animal a rabbit, so is he really Santa?

This is such a sweet story that has friendship and community firmly at its heart – plus a little magic thrown in the mix too! A perfect book to share in the run up to Christmas and a story I can see becoming a firm festive favourite. The illustrations are wonderful and the last page has a hidden magical twist it took me a while to spot!
Christmas Is In The Little Things by Stella J Jones*
Big and Small love all the little things about Christmas- the Christmas cookies, the funny games, the jolly times. All the little things are special but put together they are magic!

This is the cutest book featuring Big and Small as they do all the special Christmas things and try to decide what they love most. The illustrations are stunning and the story will melt your heart! This book is certain to get you in the festive mood as you share and discuss all the fun things about Christmas with your little one. Other titles featuring Big and Small include Love Is In The Little Things*.
