Blog Tour: I’ll Be Home For Christmas By Abbey Clancy

Today I’m taking part in the Blog Tour for Abbey Clancy’s book  I’ll Be Home For Christmas which has recently hit the shelves. Many thanks to Mills and Boon and Rebecca Lushley for allowing me to take part. I hope you all enjoy reading my thoughts on this brand new release.

About The Book

Popstar Jessika Malone can’t believe her luck! Not only has she signed a major record deal and is topping the charts with her latest single, she’s just been offered the chance of a lifetime: a tour with gorgeous megastar Cooper Black…

It’s everything she’s ever dreamed of – except that it means travelling thousands of miles from her boyfriend, Daniel, just when he’s finally got down on one knee and popped the question!

Far from home and followed by the paparazzi, her relationship is tested more than Jessika ever imagined – will she make it home for Christmas before it’s too late?

Review

After years spent singing at children’s Birthday parties Jessika is finally living the dream as a recording artist. Her career is already on the up when her talent is spotted and she is offered the opportunity of a lifetime to record a track and tour with American mega star Cooper Black. It’s what she has always dreamed of, but upping sticks for weeks on end isn’t as easy as it seems when she has to consider fiance Daniel too.

Reunited childhood sweethearts, the pair have made a life together in Daniel’s remote home and Jessika fears this new project could change the dynamics of their settled lifestyle. Daniel also works in the music business, behind the scenes, so understand the pressures and commitments required and urges Jessika to grasp the chance with both hands, especially as he also has a busy upcoming schedule too. But, will the strain on their long-distance relationship make or break them?

As a massive Rom-com lover I couldn’t wait to get my teeth into this novel and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s a beautifully written fast paced story with well-developed and believable characters that had me hooked from the beginning. It’s clear that Abbey has used her own experiences of the ‘Celeb world’ combined with those of her home city of Liverpool as inspiration for this fictional tale which really helped keep the scenarios grounded and realistic. It was also refreshing to read a British book with it’s roots firmly in the North!

I discovered after reading this book that it is actually a squeal to Remember My Name* which was released a few years ago. This didn’t surprise me as there was something in the way the past was written that indicated that the characters have a history. However, this didn’t detract from my enjoyment in any way, it simply made me add the first book to my TBR as I’m keen to discover more!

I absolutely adored this book which offered a glimpse into the high’s and low’s of celebrity and the media plus the pressures this inevitably has on close relationships. My only slight gripe is that being a massive Christmas fan I was expecting this to be a full on festive read to help me get into the seasonal mood, but Christmas was only mentioned a handful of times. I’ll Be Home For Christmas is a strong, solid rom-com read for anytime of the year, don’t be fooled into thinking it’s just for Christmas, all you need to enjoy it is a brew and a comfy seat!
