**We were gifted a copy of this book in return for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are our own**
The Summer holidays are upon us and although for parents who have been homeschooling it may well feel like a continuation of the past few months, I’m sure you’ll be in search of activities to keep the kids busy! Our little man is a real bookworm, so one of the things we plan on doing this Summer is making sure he has some new stories to enjoy. We were recently sent a copy of the newly released kids title The Blue Beyond by Little Tiger Books which is aimed at kids 5-8 years old and is the perfect Summer reading material! Check out today’s new post for our full review of this brand new book.
About The Book
Lana dreams of becoming the greatest explorer in the world. She can’t wait to discover what lies beyond the safe haven of her lagoon.
But when Lana sets off on her incredible journey, she soon realizes that she is one very little fish in the great big ocean…
Review
Lana lives in the sleepy lagoon and wiles away her days ‘exploring’ with her friends, but she dreams of something more beyond the confines of her home. With the ambition of becoming a great explorer and a little help from her fellow Butterflyfish Lana makes it over the coral and into the big ocean beyond. There she meets a friendly turtle who takes her on the adventure of a lifetime; discovering creatures big and small.
The Blue Beyond is an absolutely adorable tale of adventure, bravery and friendship that sees little fish Lana discover more about the world outside her home. Not only is it a wonderfully written and engaging story, but it is educational too as we meet an array of sea creatures, learning interesting facts about them along the way.
We loved the endless enthusiasm Lana has for discovery and really enjoyed her relationship with the elderly turtle she befriends during her adventure. Lana’s relentless character is so reminiscent of a child’s fun and curiosity making it perfectly relatebale for it’s young target audience of readers.
The book is written using easy to understand language with medium sized font ideal for older, more independent readers, however it’s also a perfect length to share together as a bedtime story. This book is illustrated in full colour throughout with absolutely stunning images that really encapsulate the story and provided some wonderful discussion points as we read together. The illustrations certainly added something special to the whole reading experience of this book, allowing us to travel alongside Lana on her journey.
We absolutely fell in love with Lana’s story and highly recommend this to parents and kids everywhere! The hardback edition we have is outstanding quality, offering the thick, glossy, hard wearing kid friendly pages I adore which are printed on every page with gorgeous illustrations. The Blue Beyond gets two huge thumbs up from us!
