**We were gifted a copy of this book in return for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are our own**
We love nothing more here at Fraser’s Fun House than sharing new books together and we were recently sent a copy of children’s picture book Hector’s Perfect Cake to read. Released earlier this month this book follows Hector the Badger’s mission to bake the perfect cake for his Granny and I’m thrilled to be sharing our thoughts on this brand new book. Thanks to author Lily Clarke and Rachel for having as part of the publication blog tour.
About The Book
Review
Hector is making a special cake for his Granny and he wants everything to be perfect, but he is missing just one ingredient. With some time left to spare he heads out in search of the finishing touch for his cake, but he runs into some problems along the way……. Will Hector be able to finish the cake in time for the party??
Hector’s Perfect Cake is a beautifully written picture book with an important message at it’s core. Poor Hector the Badger visits his other animal friends to track down his ‘magic’ ingredient with some mishaps along the way that leave him somewhat disheartened and worried about how Granny will feel about his sub standard cake. As you may have guessed Granny loves the cake anyway, especially because Hector made it and the party guests seem to tuck in too! It’s a great way to drive home the message to kids that things don’t have to be perfect every time, but as long as they try their best that’s all that matters!
The book has large font and uses reasonably easy language making it great for early and independent readers; our little man read it to us. It’s also beautifully illustrated by the author using vibrant images that work perfectly with the story. It’s a great little story that we enjoyed sharing together and it certainly left us smiling as we closed the last page!
