Halloween has been and gone and we are heading full steam toward Christmas. This time of year, in the run up to the festivities is one of my favourites and it goes without saying my excitement levels along with the kids are rising daily. Despite all the planning, gift buying and wrapping that needs to be completed in the next few weeks there is something special about the joy and excitement that’s in the air right now, it’s simply amazing.
It goes without saying after that intro that today’s post is a Christmassy one and I’m excited to be able to tell you all about The Handmade Christmas Co. As the name suggests they make all things Christmas which for a fanatic like me is a dream come true!
Who are The Handmade Christmas Co.?
The Handmade Christmas Co. was founded in 2012 by creative friends Tom Coleman and Louis Porter whose goal was to produce a premium alternative to the traditional Christmas stocking. Two years later they launched their very first collection of unique, bespoke handmade Christmas sacks and now six years later they have reached a staggering 100,000 customers around the world!
Each sack design starts life as a hand drawn sketch before being subjected to months of design refinements. It’s only then that its finally put into production. The sacks are individually made from quality hand woven hessian which is securely stitched using natural thread from the jute plant. Available in a range of traditional and modern screen-printed designs all have the option of being personalised before being lovingly hand-finished in their London studio.
In addition to their sacks they now offer a range of personalised baubles. monogramed stockings and wrapping paper, all of which are subject to the same in-depth designing process to ensure a truly quality product.
Our Experience
I was kindly given the opportunity to choose a sack for Leo and I genuinely struggled to pick from the range designs available, they are all fabulous! I eventually plumped for The Hudson, which really stood out thanks to it’s bright, red lettering. The feel of this design is quite traditional which I really love, it makes it feel like it really has been delivered by the North Pole Postal Service – which of course it has!
Our sack was delivered beautifully packaged in a sturdy, re-useable cardboard tube perfect to store it away during the year when not being used. I’m also happy to report that it was easy to fit it back into the tube, not always the case with other items delivered in tubes that seem to expand and never go back in! I was surprised with the size of the sack (approx. 82x52cm), it’s huge, big enough to fit plenty of presents of all shapes and sizes in and still have room! I think Santa may need to buy a few more pressies this year! Also included is a thick red ribbon to keep everything secure when full and helps to really finish off the whole look.
The quality of the workmanship is evident, it’s finished beautifully with real attention to detail giving it a luxury feel. Being made from such a durable material I’m certain it will stand the test of time and be used for many years to come. The fact that its personalised is the icing on the cake and I’m positive when Leo wakes on Christmas morning to find a special postbag from Santa especially addressed to him he’ll be thrilled.
Sacks range in price starting at only £17. The Hudson Sack featured retails at £22 which I think is superb value for money for such a high-quality item that will be used for many years to come. Remember these sacks aren’t just for kids, with a wide range of styles and designs to choose from they are suitable for adults too!
Orders over £20 are delivered FREE in the UK (£1.99 under £20). They also deliver internationally with standard delivery charged at £8.50 per sack.
