Wow it’s hard to believe we are almost halfway through December already! I’m sure like me you’ll all be busy with Christmas preparations and finding time to fit some reading time in may be proving difficult. Fear not, today’s post may be able to offer you a solution! Christmas Eve At Piccadilly Circus by Kelly Matthews is a festive novella, perfectly sized for even the busiest reader. Kelly kindly sent me a copy of her book to read and review, so take a peek and your Christmas reading wish may come true!
Synopsis
When Darcy inherited her grandmother’s pub, The Churchill in Paddington, London, she wasn’t aware of its WW2 history. Upon discovering love letters to her gran from a mysterious man called Walter, Darcy decided to investigate, but in the process finds a love of her own. Will Darcy meet her love at Piccadilly Circus on Christmas Eve? Or will she be subjected to the same fate as that of her gran?
Review
Darcy has moved to the big city to take over ownership of her Grandmother’s pub, but she has her work cut out for her when she discovers how run down and in need of repair it is. With debts mounting and custom slow she can’t see a way out except to sell up and move home, that is until the discovery of a bundle of letters hidden away in a cupboard.
With the help of pub regular Mr Jones and new tenant Gareth, Darcy begins to piece together the rich history of the pub and her family which sparks an idea to help save the pub!
I’ve tried so hard not to give away too much about this fabulous little novella as I hate reading reviews with spoilers so apologies for any vagueness! I read this book in one sitting, finding it impossible to put down. It has everything history, romance, mystery and that all important magic, perfectly packaged together to leave you with a warm glow.
I’m a massive Christmas fanatic and one of the things I enjoy doing during December is reading as many festive themed stories as possible and this one fits the bill perfectly. It’s festively themed, complete with snow and good cheer, but without a complete Christmas overload – if you know what I mean! It’s perfect to enjoy tucked up in bed or curled in front of the fire on a Winter’s evening with a steaming mug of Hot Chocolate, my idea of heaven!
This is the first book I have read by Kelly Matthews and I really enjoyed her style so will definitely be downloading more of her books – especially as they are Christmassy too! Highly recommended for Christmas and chick-lit lovers everywhere!
