At the end of last year I posted about our experience of The Snowman Tour at Durham Cathedral. This fun festive treat has been held annually for the last six years by Carrot Productions and following it’s huge success they have created a brand spanking new tour for the Spring featuring yet another iconic animation, Wallace & Gromit! Now, if you haven’t yet had the pleasure of watching Wensleydale loving Wallace and his faithful pooch in action then you are missing out, they are pure gold and one of my all-time favourite animations.
The new show aptly named Wallace & Gromit’s Musical Marvels, will be heading out on the road during May and June 2019 for a huge 38 date stint across the country and we can’t wait to see it when it arrives here in Carlisle! Working in partnership with the four times Academy Award winning®️ Aardman Studio, Carrot Productions have commissioned specially created animations which will be accompanied by live music and fun escapades from the Picture House Orchestra alongside presenter Mathew Sharp. Musical Marvels promises to offer a truly interactive experience as it joins Wallace preparing to perform his musical masterpiece, Concerto In Ee Lad with help from ever faithful Gromit.
The show will also include an exclusive viewing of Nick Park’s Oscar winning animation The Wrong Trousers, again accompanied by the professional orchestra which includes musicians from the Hallé and BBC Philharmonic amongst others. The Wrong Trousers is my favourite of the Wallace & Gromit films so I’m absolutely thrilled that it’s the one Carrot Productions have chosen to feature.
We thoroughly enjoyed The Snowman Tour, the music was incredible and brought such a well known animation to life in way we hadn’t experienced before. It was the children’s first real experience of a life orchestra and it’s certainly had a lasting effect on them having become a regular topic of conversation, plus we have also been privy to several conducting masterclasses led by Leo! I have absolutely no doubt this new show will be equally as amazing and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us. One things for sure….it will be A Grand Day Out!
