**We were gifted an copy of this book in return for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are our own**
Today I’m taking part in the publication tour for new children’s title Dad You’ve Trumped by Andrew Rogerson. As soon as I saw the title of this one in my inbox I knew I had to take part in the tour as my little man, like many six year olds, think pumping, trumping, farting – whatever you may call it – is absolutely hilarious!
Thank you to Faye from Authoright and Clink Street Publishing for sending me a copy of this book to share with my little man and for allowing me to take part in the tour.
About The Book
This is the story about how a Dad tries to explain away his moments of flatulent indiscretion to Poppy, his five year old daughter.
These are all real moments. They are all real excuses.
Dad has a habit of making some rather rude noises at the most inappropriate times, but of course it’s never actually a real trump! With plenty of excuses from a squeaking mouse to some car tyres on the road, Dad always has a perfectly plausible excuse, but Poppy isn’t quite sure….
Let’s face it everyone of any age loves to giggle at farting noises and this short, simple story encapsulates the fun between Father and daughter when Dad lets one go! There are various scenarios that I’m sure will be relateable and they certainly gave us a chuckle as we read along!
Even better is that it’s based on the authors personal experience and illustrator Christopher Dodd is actually a family friend so is extremely well placed to depict the story. His illustrations are a perfect fit with the story and we particularly enjoyed Poppy’s various facial expressions! Along the way the illustrations also offer subtle nods to well known stories including Cat in The Hat and Winnie The Pooh to name just a couple. This added an extra aspect as it prompted additional discussion outside the story itself.
The last few bonus pages in the book are dedicated to some fool proof bottom sound making techniques which we just found hilarious to try out!
We really enjoyed this story which is ideal to share together or great for those early readers.
